There has been a considerable amount of confusion surrounding exactly what a nappy cake is so I will hopefully clear up any questions you may have in this page.

WHAT IS A NAPPY CAKE?

Nappy cakes are the perfect present to welcome a new baby, they are a gift shaped like a tiered cake but made from and filled with lovely goodies, presented with lots of ribbons and bows, they make a stunning gift. They are also the perfect gift for a Baby Shower, Christening, or any special event where you really want something special.

SO IT'S NOT EDIBLE THEN

I can understand why this question gets asked regularly.  As an established cake designer and maker (of the edible variety), I have created a confusing situation for some.  I have always been very creative and make many things besides cakes.  My friend gave birth to a beautiful daughter last year and I wanted to give her a gift that would stand out from the rest.  After scouring the internet I discovered that Nappy Cakes are a very popular gift in America and have been made even more popular since an appearance on "Sex and the City".  After a few attempts I made my first Nappy Cake.

WHAT EXACTLY DO I GET IN MY CAKE?

Every cake is different.  As a general guide they contain disposible nappies, baby blanket, baby towel, baby bottle, baby wipes, baby gro's, bibs, socks, scratch mits, feeding cloth, muslin cloth and a co-ordinating cuddly toy.  All contents are shaped and constructed to look like a tiered cake, finished off with lots of ribbon on a round cake board, wrapped in protective celophane.  As an added decorative extra I roll the socks and mits into pretty little roses which has become a signature decoration of mine.

CAN ALL THE "INGREDIENTS" BE USED?

All the Nappy Cake ingredients are newborn size and are essential items for use in the baby's first few weeks.  Most recipients of my cakes have fedback that they find it very difficult to dismantle something so pretty.  As a result of this I can offer items that are 0-3 months instead of Newborn so that they can delay the dismantling for a little longer.  Nappy cakes can also be given as a Christening gift therefore I would need you to be very specific with sizes etc.

HOW MUCH IS A NAPPY CAKE?

1 Tier with cuddly toy - £25 approx

2 Tier with cuddly toy - £40 approx

3 Tier with cuddly toy - £60 approx

 

These prices are a guide for you.  If you would like to spend a little less or more then I can tailor this to suit your requirements.

OTHER INFORMATION

I can make my nappy cakes in any colour you wish.  If you want a gift before the baby is born then I can make a neutral cake.  If you want to wait to see the sex of the baby then you can order your cake and it will be ready for delivery or pick up in under 24 hours.

I can deliver (for a small additional charge) anywhere within the Tayside area or you can pick up from Strathview Cottage, Bowriefauld which is approx 5 miles from Forfar and 15 miles from Dundee.

 

COMING SOON

I will be offering a line in "Pamper Cakes" very soon.  These will be similar in appearance to my nappy cakes but will contain champagne or wine, champagne flute or wine glass (or glasses), skincare products (facemasks, hair treaments etc), soft towels and facecloths and if you are looking for something extra special I can also include pretty underwear and/or a little toy or two (if you get my drift).  As these are very bespoke gifts, all contents will be confirmed once a budget has been quoted to me.  As with the nappy cakes they will be attractively (and discreetly) packaged and with be wrapped in celophane.
